I suggest you get in touch with the person running this UK-based website for advice: http://www.waterzoo.co.uk/Staff/Octopus%20aquarium.htm

You should be able to get one from any decent tropical fish shop that has a dedicated marine section (they will probably have to order it specially, probably from TMC ..Tropical Marine Center), but be warned that they are extremely hard to keep alive for any length of time and are best left to specialists. I have kept a small one alive for about 4 months in a well established living reef setup but a good decent living reef setup will probably cost a few thousand £££ at todays prices. So unless you are prepared to spend £2,000+ on a invert tank and then wait for 12-18 months for the tank to mature and become established ..........

Here in North America many large tropical fish shops also sell marine fish. All you need to do is find one and talk to them about placing a special order. Shop around if you live where there are several marine fish dealers.

Just be forewarned that octopuses are rather short lived animals, usually only for about a year, and you'll almost definitely be receiving an adult or near adult when you get it. Divide the cost by maybe 4 or 6 and that's what it will cost you a month just to own one. Setting up an escape-proof aquarium for it is additional money, but definitely not cheap. (They are extremely good at getting out of their aquariums!)

        Best of luck.

          Hi
Just want to add that it is not a good idea to have a smooth tiled floor in the room you keep your octopus just incase it does escape from the tank!
          cheers

Because if it grabs a smooth floor, you'll have a devil of a time removing it.
