  • feeding my blondi

hello everyone.just a quick question to anyone with a goliath birdeater....how much does yours eat???.over the last week my monster has eaten 1 pack of large locusts,5 adult black crickets and 1 dead adult mouse, which may i add had been left in the viv during the day while i was at work and i was very suprised to find my goliath had found it,picked it up and was eating it.normally i have to get her to strike at them before she will show an interest.anyhow my point being is she just being greedy, she never turns away from any food offering.any advice would be great.cheers

That does sound excessive amounts of food dor any spider, including fully grown T.Blondi, or L.Parahybana.

Some species will eat anything you throw and continue to do so, however it doesn't signify hunger. It will make the spider grow faster and some people use that same method of 'powerfeeding'. However it also shortens the lifespan of the animal and increases the chance of problem moults.

Not having kept T.Blondi myself, i'm hardly qualified to advise how much an adult should be fed, though an educated guess would be something like 2-3 adult deathshead roaches per week tops.

No doubt once others see this you will get a better answer though.
