Well normally Richard does his bit, on time!!!
Ray / Angela and the rest of the BTS crew do their bit, on time !!!!

Then the post office completely smeg it up big time.

this topic won't be in the next one though...so much more to study yet.

as for injuries, i've had some little first aid kits made up and they all carry one round with them .

LMAO!! That's one wickedly dry sense of humour you have sir!
As for the post office...they should stop and consider what would happen if we all refused our deliveries for 72 hours at short notice.

      *picturing paramedic pokies* LOL
Ah well...I'll be looking forward to the article as and when it appears...and then I'll ask 101 questions.

        Hey colin,
just a newby browsin'. Hey when/if you get a chance, could you take some more close ups of your communes? Maybe some of the fasciata group this time? These pics are so interesting. This site is pretty unique for it's hobbyists and their devotion on the side to this intriguing sport!

Hi Ray, have PM,d you. Don't have your other E mail addy. Hi Everyone. The scorp looks like she only lost one baby to a scorpling.. I dropped some mealies in and will get some crickets tomorrow. The avic must have done the biz earlier tonight as I saw him cleaning /preening his palps (is this a good sign that he's done it!?). The O. aureotibialis was down the females burrow and is now back 'home', safe! Gonna start the pokie colony off soon, when I sort the heating medium out! Thanks for the advice and pics.

excellent news the scorps are doing well, the Avic does seem to have done something right, one safe "aureo"..good news again, good luck with the colony too.
and on top of this Ray's found your spider !!

              productive day methinks.

Good luck with the colony Steve! I thought my lot would be more entertaining as spiderlings but it seems the bigger they get the more playful and silly they are! Also I don't know if this applies to P. fasciata but my lot absolutely love sphagnum moss. They'll climb down off their bark every night and have a play, give it a try with yours I'm sure they'll really take to it. They really are the best.

Hi Nicola, thanks for the tip with the moss. I'll certainly try it once I get the colony up and running. Do you reckon the spiderlings enjoy the moss because the get some moisture from it or just because they're 'kids', having fun
Quick question for everyone, please. How long do you think I should keep my male avic sp. 'Guyana' (avic avic!!) in with the female. I put him in on Monday and he was seen cleaning his palpls in the evening (which I think is a good sign that he's poss. mated!) Also have a P. irminia male in with a female, been there a few days but tried them before and no go! Any tips!

                    Hi Steve,

The Avic's could co-habit for quite a time as long as food items are available.
I personally would seperate them and pop them back together again in a week or so. he may recharge his palps as he's aware there's a female around. has worked before for ours

I put spaghnum moss in with all my humidity loving spiders - I think it acts as a buffer soaking up excess misture but also releasing moisture if humidity drops - It's certainly a winner with my P.fasciatas and Purple Avics

Hi everyone, thanks Colin, I'll remove him asap and try again next week. (should be fun trying to get him out!) Hi Mark, good point about the moss, save on watering too often!

Hi all, Love this thread I find communal set ups very interesting - how they react to each other over various changes and circumstances, I have too many questions. I've just joined the BTS and am awaiting my first journal (can't wait) and hope its not too long till I get to read Colins journal entry.

Hi All, here's a strange thing, what do you think. At the Newark show I had the fasciatas in tubs (4 for £10!!). Someone wanted only 2 so I had 2 left in a tub. When I got back home I decided to put the two of them in a sweet jar with 4 from another tub. So, now 6 in a tub. When I was feeding them last night, I noticed that 4 of them were at the top, on the lid, and 2 were slightly further down, although there was plenty of room for them on the lid. Question is, are the 4 that were initially potted up together, albeit for 2 days, the same ones that are at the top . Why aren't the other two with them? You could argue that they should all bond because they were together with the female 2 days previously but maybe by separating them, they then form new groups.
Colin, at the show, you mentioned about your colony having two different groups. Were these from two separate eggsacs? Has anyone ever put any Pokies back together that were initially separated and noticed any strange results?
