  • Is in in the knees?

Just wondering if my 'B.Smithi' might be a B.Auratum? And is it all in the knees?
I've been reading that B.Auratum are more slender and like climbing more which is fitting to mine, although I'm not even sure of the sex anymore... AAAARGH!

Sorry for the pic - its a bit 'Arty'!

I may be wrong here (not as experienced with Brachy's as some on here) but that looks very B. smithi.
I'm sure the little black stripe goes through the red on the knee on a smithi whereas the auratum has just a black mark on the carapace side of the "knee" joint.
If it's showing adult colours then the longer setae on the abdomen will be quite red and more abundant on the auratum as opposed to more brown / orange sparser setae on the smithi.

    *edit*
just noticed on your list that it IS an adult, just call me Mr. observant DUH!!

I'm not pretending to be able to help you, but have you got a picture of the entire spider? It would be useful

its not B, auratum, thats for sure.

B, auratum does not have the fawn /tan mixing with the red like yours, just the red strips on their patella's which are otherwise all black
with a tan ring near the joint.

        yours is B.smithi without doubt
