  • Oh my god! She's on her back!

    Hi all!

Forgive my obvious excitement as this will be my first moult. My already 5 inch G Rosea is on her back this morning - and I've had to come to work. I hope she's ok. She's been in premoult for a good few weeks now so we knew it was coming - but why couldnt she have done it yesterday so I could watch!

Couldnt believe it when I got up and checked on her this morning and there she was. I'm really excited but nervous too. Wish I could have stayed home to make sure she gets out ok. Wont get home til 5ish by which time she will hopefully be done?

    Just had to share.

hi Claire, i think we all share that excitement...i know it's a thrill to find a moulted skin just sitting there and a bigger spider hiding sitting by it.
i've been keeping for a couple years now, and i've only actually witnessed two moults, both within the last month! one was a tiny sling, that was a thrill, because it can be so risky at that age, and another was a scorpling...i thought it was going wrong, but when i checked again, the scorp was fine!
i'd love to see an adult moult, and hopefully you'll get to see it one day too, if it occurs while you're not home!

Probly for the best you weren't there for the first moult.
I know I would get impatient and want to help my T like so many others have tried before.

They moult best in peace and qiet and even if something were to go wrong there is not much you could do to help it out.

Hope you find a really nice looking T when you get home

Ps: there are some really good moulting vids on youtube

yes, that's true. those people need to be put in a room with about 100 Androctuns spp scorps.

edit: did i say a room?
              i meant a small box?

              and did i say put?
              i meant securely locked.

I watched a few vids on YouTube when I first started doing research into owning a tarantuala. Vids such as flicking urticating hairs, tanks setups and moults. Then there are the vids of fights and such and in my opinion they are no better than dog or cock fights. Although I cannot seethem being banned, I just don't click on them.
