  • webbing?

After i took the locusts out of the tank (she just wasnt intrested) she came out her hide for a few hours, when i got up on Sunday morning she has lightly(?) webbed the entrance to her hide!
Ive read on other posts that sometimes they web up the front of their hides when moulting, but dont know if they web heavily when they do that?.She wasnt happty with the disturbance when the locusts were removed because before that ive left her alone, only topping up her water every 3rd day. The locusts just seemed to take the p*ss!,going into her hide, using her water bowl as a bath!. I havent seen her since Saturday night, will it be ok to stiill change the water? i dont want to stress her?

Hi Kirsty. I'd leave the water unless it's really bad. If she is going to moult (and sealing herself in could be an indication of that), then the less disturbance the better

The fact she's webbing the front as opposed to the interior or exterior of her burrow proves a little more significant. Coupled with not eating it could well be an upcoming molt. It could also be a result of her moving to a new enclosure - remember that females rarely leave their homes, or it could be her laying "down her lines". In the wild Ts may lay down webbing to direct them back to their hides; lay web and hairs to discourage predators; or simply to coat their perceived large burrow. They may also mark their territory by webbing.
As Phil suggests, I'd just leave her with her water bowl, if you feel a need to add more water try doing so when's she's in her burrow. If things stay as they are try a cricket at the weekend, if its becomming more apparent that she's about to molt remove all food.
