Ah, but not all postal offices are bad, and here's a giggle relating to it...
Recently I had some extra livefood *treats* delivered...except I wasn't in, so my package of bugs and bits was taken back to the local sorting room.
When I collected it, the lovely lady at the desk (who refers to me as *the spider&snake lass*) said...Oooh, so what's in your delivery this time...I heard it moving and thought it might be frightened, so I've talked to your parcel to try and help it stay calm. I had quite a giggle telling her she had been chatting to my feeder bugs!! LOL

My posties are brilliant too. They're always asking whether there's a spider in my special delivery items when they deliver to them the office. If we miss a delivery, they put everything on a shelf in their heated strongroom just in case

Couldnt you have it delivered to a neigbour or a nearby friend ?

The spider will be OK until you can collect it from them after work, just tell them to leave the box in a warm room.

          Hi Andrew,

I have recieced spiders from all over Europe, and some of these packages can take more than a wek and the spiders are OK.

I am sure if you asked Lee to ship out on A friday or Sat, for Monday delivery he would do so, the spiders should be ok.

I agree. I've had spiders shipped in from Germany which took over a week in the middle of winter and they were fine. Wonderful things, these heat pads (you can buy them from Lee as well).
sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!

Thanks for the info about posting T's. What I failed to remember was that my wife only works Mon-Wed. D'oh!! So if I were to go the mail order route, which I think I will, my wife would be in to accept the delivery.

Although I was initially going to get a G. Rosea (as that is what most pet shops offer), I quite fancy B. Smithi and A. Chalcodes too. How does A. Chalcodes fare as a first spider. Although inexperienced, I do have a lot of common sense (despite forgetting my wife working pattern!!). If this is going way off topic, could a mod perhaps move it accordingly please?
                Gloria my little Brachypelma smithi.
