    Hello every one!,
Ive been quite busy lately,so its only been in the last few days that ive seen "Lois" out & about after moulting.......... (so please try not to laugh) but i *think* i see hooks, on the legs near the front, just above the second joint? Im not sure if any one will make sense of what im trying to ask,but i think "lois" is probably "Louis!". It doesnt make any difference to me,its just im not sure how long he will live for now?, i also dont like to think of him "popping his clogs" without meetin a nice lady T" & havin a few hundred babies! LOL!

If it has hooks then yes it is male, and you will also be able to see that the end of its pedipalps have bulbs (known as 'boxing gloves'). I'm afraid now he's mature he won't last a very long time, but it depends on the species as to how long exactly. What type of tarantula is he?

        Hey Kirsty!

Rosea MM have been known to live up to 5 years past their ultimate molt, which is what yours has had if he's got his hooks. He may stop eating, and get very restless, all thing a MM does. In the wild, he'd be out looking for a hot date.

Don't give him up for gone yet. Enjoy him while you've got him.
