nice new T's! sounds like a good deal...though i've no idea what a hutch costs.

Thanks all. They are lovely additions. VERY warey of the L.P. though, she is very bulky, and doesn't like any hands in there changing water etc,.

She was just up on the side of the tank, near to the top. She looks too big to support her weight up there lol.

                Hiya
My L para is just a bit bigger at 7-7.5 inches and she will sit on the glass sides sometimes, I think the rule of thumb goes the height of the tank ie between substrata and lid should not be much more than 1.5 times the maximum legspan of the spider as these big monsters can easily harm themselves if they fall and of course the usual no sharp rocks etc near the side of the tank
If you read schultz tarantula keepers guide he mentions on these big "T"'s "you need to be wary of handling unless you are experienced with them as just the physical damage of 2 one inch fangs can do some harm thats without the venom"
So saying that they are normally pretty placid unless provoked

well done to your son on the swap he is going to end up with a monster that will eat you out of house and home

                All the best
