  • Need help with escapee!!

well... bit of a bummer last night, i checked in on spidey.. all was well. he or she was sitting in his or her fav spot in the tank, didnt mind my music being on. and not too loud cos it was 1.30 in the morning. went to bed around 3, spidey... still fine. nothing to worry about. this morning, didnt check on spidey cos normally its just sitting outside his or her housey thing. anyway... had shower got ready to go out. went out.. got back... no tarantula. searched every room in the house. i have no idea how the thing got out. the top was wieghted down, so sureyl it couldnt move the wieght, as it weighs a fair bit. the only explanation would be that it clibed vertically up glass, then over a ridge so its head was facing the floor 12 inches up into the air, then crawled out of a small (well i thought it was small) air vent.

he or she is a b.smithi. not huge, but not small. about 3.5 to 4 inches ish.

i know some people have had this problem before, but does anyone have any ideas on places they like to hide in your house lol.

has anyone managed to make traps to recapture them??

im struggling to find places to look... but could it have climbed a wall and gone to higher ground?? surely not...

    anyway help if possible pleasssssseee

well it could have escaped but it could have buried itself really well too, that woud be my first logical explanation.

If you really can't find it in the tank then I guess it has escaped.

I would place a towel by the door so that if it is still in the room it cannot get any further. The further it gets the harder it will be to find.

It will be hiding behind some piece of furniture, usually sitting on the wall somewhere out of sight.

It will turn up eventually, maybe, I thought the same about my escaped newt before I trod on it...

I'll bet you its either still in the cage or within 5 feet of it.

your spider obviously went over to the dark side LMAO
From what I've read they don't often stray far from where they were housed but one solution is to put lots of double sided sticky tape around the doorway as they don't seem to like crossing that, just something I've read from another escaped T thread.

I've just checked on eBay and Bsmithi7865 has a load of old Star Wars figures for sale. Trying to raise money for a new home in a more secure part of town!!

I presume that's something they find out as they walk up to it
