  • Heteroscodra maculata pre molt duration

Had a togo starburst baboon now for about 6 months and for 3 of those months it hasnt eaten, after eating ravenously for months previously.

How long is the premolt stage for these spiders as I have other baboons that show no signs of molting, no diet changes happen and then all of a sudden they molt, in a matter of an evening or so.

The togo is about 4 in leg span, female and still very fiesty, how ever will not eat. I have tried feeding it small crickets, medium and adult locusts to try and stir some reaction but nothing.

I keep the humidity levels quite high and the substrate is always moist.

I keep it in an upright pet pal container with cork bark and a fake plant, which it webs profusely in.

What am I doin wrong guys, if anything?

    Regards

    Dave.

I don't think there's reason to worry - In my experience these guys can cocoon themselves in for ages and not move or eat anything. As long as the spider is webbed up then assume it is happy, after a few more weeks I'm sure it will re-emerge with a shiny new boots on!

Cant wait mate, its a gorgeous spider now, so it will probably be bright white and grey if it molts as its lost a little bit of colour recently and has gone a bit browner than it was. I am quite sure its going to but I was wondering if this species should stay in a premolt state so long.
