  • Avic Avic

I was reading up about first aid and therapies for injured t's and read an article on the Avic Avic being one of the worst species to suffer from dehydration, the article states that if at any point during the Avics.avics life they suffer from dehydration there is no cure to save the spider it says they just take a long time to die once the damage is done it could take even a year before they die from this even if you give them plenty of water they still die.

my question is:- is this a true theory and is there anyway to tell if the spider has been dehydrated before you obtain them, i have had my avic for just under 12 months and im pretty sure she is pre molt but have noticed she is not acting in the same way she did for her ladt molt she is very lathargic and is not spinning anywebs like she did last time, i am not sure if she is just taking a long pre molt or if she did suffer before i obtained her,

all words of advice would be greatly appreciated

I cant see how that theory is true in any way at all to be fair. Yes T's can dehydrate, but unless they are slings it isnt a very *fast* process, and also they can just drink themselves better (unless they are so dehydrated they cant get to the water bowl).

Without wishing to sound silly, how do they know? Firstly if they are talking about in captivity then that is more of a reflection on tarantula husbandry than the spider. Secondly in the wild how can they tell when the taxonomy of Avic avic is such a mess and there are so many variants how can they provide an accurate study sample over a significant enough area to justify their claims? Just a thought.
sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!

that was my first impressions about the whole thing, it really does seem hard to beleive, and thats why i brought it up hard to beleive though that the bts would release an article of this nature without any such research though, hopefully we can get more opinions on this as its quite an interesting theory mind
