  • move abroad

hi guys. am in sunny lanzarote at the moment and have just had a job offer here so loks like i am gonna be moving out here within the next few months. the only problem i have is that i want to bring my Ts and reptiles with me. when i get back to england i will be checking with customs what the rules are for me bringing them over here. my only problem is that the place i am gonna be moving to is very hot. the temp here yesterday peaked at 122f in the direct sun and it is getting hotter over the next couple of days. it has been impossible to find anywhere cool to sit. my problem would be not keeping the Ts warm enought but keeping them Cool enough because obviously these temps are too high. any suggestions?

One non-serious suggestion......drop them all off here and then move abroad !!!

One serious....... could you leave them here with someone and get your accomodation sorted with either a dedicated room or outhouse that has a reliable airconditioning unit (i'm sure there's a portable device mentioned on here that was highly rated but can't find the thread)
Once you have the room set up then ship the T's over.

Good luck in your venture mate.
Don't forget to learn what you can, when you can, where you can.

i will be running a bar over here and my accomodation will be attatched to that. there is a very small beer cellar but i dont think the staff would appreciate my Ts in there lol. i may find that customs wont let me bring them here in which case i will have a collection for sale if anyones interested lol

lanzarote is a part of Spain ?

Spain is in the EU ?

I cant see there being any law stopping you taking them.

The only problem i can see is taking them on the plane ... red tape and lots of it for the reptiles.
Inverts will be a lot easier .... get someone to post them to you once you are settled in

although lanzarote is owned by spain, it is in the canary islands and is not in the EU. something i will have to investigate. it might be that they have to stay in a quarentine for a small amount of time

You lucky thing! Just accross the water from Marrakech as well!. I might be wrong but aren't the Ivory Coast and Ghana nearer than the UK? That's Stromatopelma country lad, again you lucky thing! I don't see you'll have any problems with the spids (if you've got a fan for ventilation). Of course if you get bored you can invite us all over for a holiday! Good luck!

Matthew, that sounds like a fantastic opportunity! i hope you enjoy yourself and have loads of encounters with the local "exotic" animals, if that isn't an oxymoron in that context lol
                        good luck taking your animals!

was a fantastic opportunity, i have just declined the job offer. i heard a bit about the reputation of the guy i would have been working for, not a trap i wanna let myself fall into. i am still moving here though and am looking for a new job
