When Ice Cube gets bigger he/she will be out more Rich so don't worry. My smithi was always out of sight as a sling but now she is a sub adult of about 4" she is always out and about. In fact reading the threads about smithi escapes I think she is a typical smithi, she is always inspecting the mesh and testing the lid!

I think this must be a typical brachy thing Silvi, all of mine have had their fangs rasping at the lids in one way or another. All the other genus seem to just accept their surroundings.

Can't say we've had Brachys attempting to escape here, all seem contented to vegetate and watch the world go by, just Moonboots who I mentioned before, he likes to climb out and sit on the floor next to me...but my Avics are regular beggars for escape attempts...and they fly out to say hello when the cage is opened. lol

She is the T I look at the most - just to see if she is still there lol. Her old tank had a mesh lid and she would spend hours upside down. I used to stroke her fangs!
The other Brachy's are fine, they behave.

Hi Louise I don't think I've got anything yet which runs for the open doors, but I'm picking up my first Avics on the 18th so I'll have to watch them. My little miranda is a whirl wind - I've called it Dizzy, but it just whirls around its cork bark.

LOL...that'll get the party nicely underway!! So much fun, and they just seem to be full of mischief, not malevolence...but it's a giggle suddenly finding an Avic toupee on top of your hair!! lol
Love your Miranda's name...so cute; my Mirandas are very steady types, but my Fasciata are loonies!! They're always on a whizz and a dash. Here today, gone tomorrow and all that...they just never stay still if they know you're trying to watch them.

That is kl; it looks more like a red knee right now however. I'm thinking, something to do with red, for the name. Any suggestions? What is the size (approx.) btw, Louise?
                    Thanks

I hope so Sylvi! I feel sorry for them, if they are constantly trying to escape.
I just hope mine is alive and well. I wanted to give it a cricket, but all my brown batch have just moulted, most of them now have damaged limbs for some reason, and despite having access to a supply of fresh food and water, they seem like they are dying out. Time to get some more in!

                    Thanks!
Li'l' Ice Cube the Brachypelma Smithi!!! (As of 13/05/08 !!) But, I'm still gonna refer to it as Ice Cube!
                    Pyro the Brachypelma Auratum!!!!!!!!!!

                    Many, many thanks Louise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rich, you'll be able to see the distinct flame shape on the knees far better in the flesh. Pretty devils. Names...ooohhh...brain racking time...it's currently called *Pyro*...but you'll probably want to think up a fresh name for it, add your own feel to it etc.
Size at the mo, around 6cm legspan.

Lol - Sorry Sylvi, but even if it were definitely a girl, I wouldn't call it Lulu. I hope it is a girl though, it'll be good to keep for a few decades!
                          Thanks!

                          Great!
Nah, if it was called Pyro, then I will stick with Pyro. However, it may not even be called Pyro, that is just what we humans call him/her.
I was thinking Bloodbrother to be honest; maybe it isn't too late to change his/her name...
Or if I were to, is Bloodbrother just pathetic?

Yeah Rich...it's real name is probably Tyrannosaurus Nitwit...it eats like a pig, and yet is incredibly daft. LOL
A very nosey lil soul it is too...so I'm sure it will prove to be an interesting study-buddy!

Don't call it Bloodbrother! Where did the name Ice Cube come from? Link it up there some how.
