Don't call it Bloodbrother! Where did the name Ice Cube come from? Link it up there some how.
I stole Ice Cube from Matthew Spooner, lol! I was thinking, Blood Ice... but I will probably stcik with Pyro. I like that name!
Louise, I might set the tank up tomorrow. If so, I'll arrange a date soon (I know this week he'll be free) with my brother; I know this may sound like a lot to ask, especially since you've been so great to me, but can I ask for a specific day??
Thanks Louise, and you too Sylvi!Li'l' Ice Cube the Brachypelma Smithi!!! (As of 13/05/08 !!) But, I'm still gonna refer to it as Ice Cube!

Hey Louise, got those pictures!!! It is just so tempting to lift that pot to see if he/she is there. I know I can't, and I won't... I just really want to know if he/she is still alive and doing fine!
Anyway, here are the pics. I dunno if you can make much from the pictures though...

I have just thought of something you can do to make Ice Cube come out.
Since you haven't seen him for such a long time, it wouldn't hurt to cover up his tank with a cloth or something.
I have just recently moved one of my spiders from a cupboard into a display tank which is obviously much brighter during the day and I only get to see him at night now. Not the end of the world but while he was in the cupboard I practically saw him every time I opened the doors and checked on him.
So... if you cover up the cage for 3 days, Ice cube should very likely be out in the open when you check on him next. He could be getting ready for a moult though in which case he might stay hidden till he has moulted.
I bought a batch of spiderlings all together a few months ago and two of them moulted one and a half months ago, the other two look like they want to moult but no moult so far lol... Long wait.
Good to hear you are getting another T.
PS: if you ask me a Tarantula does not like a bare cage. The more things to hide amongst the better... I use leaves, twigs, moss and have seen very nice setups with plastic plants too (real plants would not get enough light unfortunately). I mean even some scrunched up balls of newspaper would make him feel like he had some "rocks" around him to hide under if threatened.Last edited by Tom Forman; 06-05-08, 07:23 PM.<<< Waxworm specialist >>>

Richard, as Tom has mentioned, get some plastic plants. They make the setup just look that bit better too as well as offering a place to perch / hide. My smithi would often sit on a leaf. They can be picked up from any decent pet shop for just a few quid. Just check out the aquarium section.
And if IC is Smiffy's sibling, a moult should be on the cards if age has anything to do with it. Check out my post What a Transformation to see the difference. I'm positive it has grown by a 1/3.Gloria my little Brachypelma smithi.

I don't like the idea of not seeing the T. lol; that is why I don't think I'd get an arboreal or a burrower. I was thinking about getting some plants for Ic's and Pyro's tank; they are very bare at the moment. IC's other tank is wicked, the Exo Terra with the cork bark layout... there is one big hiding place, and one big area to hang around outside aswell. Pyro's Exo Terra is a very basic flowerpot waterdish layout. So some plants will be great to have in there!
I couldn't stand having so many slings; too much work for me!I'm sure yours that haven't moulted, will do so soon!
I know; I can't wait for Pyro!
I might cook some twigs (to kill off any organisms) and buy some plastic plants for the two enclosures (Pyro's and Ice Cube's current).
I'll post pics when I get Pyro BTW!

They dont have the brain capacity to 'enjoy' their surroundings.
It does look very nice to decorate a tank, much less bland, however, you sure wont see as much of your T if you overdecorate
Thats my 2 cents anyhow
Another thing for Richard; whenever any of my Ts are either in a burrow or suspected of a moult and hiding like yours, get a decent torch and shine it under the tank, that way you can check your T without disturbing it. Enjoy
