with an adult Tarantula I agree Oli but with a spiderling I have to disagree based on what I have seen.

I know atleast two people who would agree with me on this.

On the other hand I reckon the best container for a spiderling is one not much bigger than the spiderling and there is no need for adding stuff in that case...

So yeah small container with no decorations is best. But a big bare tank could do with some cluttering up.

They dont have the brain capacity to 'enjoy' their surroundings.
It does look very nice to decorate a tank, much less bland, however, you sure wont see as much of your T if you overdecorate
      Thats my 2 cents anyhow

Another thing for Richard; whenever any of my Ts are either in a burrow or suspected of a moult and hiding like yours, get a decent torch and shine it under the tank, that way you can check your T without disturbing it. Enjoy
      Hi Oli

I think wat Tom was saying was that they can retreat to more things if startled or scared. Yes O.D. can block what you see, so I think if I do get a plant, it'll be one per enclosure.

The layer of substrate is really thick; but thank you for that advice mate anyway. He hasn't dug anywhere near to the transparent side or bottom of the tank, unfortunately for me lol.

      Thanks Oli

            Definitely.

They can be picked up from any decent pet shop for just a few quid. Just check out the aquarium section.

And if IC is Smiffy's sibling, a moult should be on the cards if age has anything to do with it. Check out my post What a Transformation to see the difference. I'm positive it has grown by a 1/3.
I will man; I need some new crix, so I'll check out what plants the pet store has to offer!
That is great; ahh, hopefully, I'll see IC, bigger and better; sometime soon!

            Cheers!

              .
              Is this not a contradiction?
Fair enough, they will have more places to hide, but it is not a nessesity for the spids wellbeing.
