  • Train times from New Street Station Birmingham

Just for anyone that has not found out yet and may be worried

the trains from new street station birmingham that will get people to the show in time for opening are

08:40 departure arrives at colesely station at 08:58
09:40 departure arrives at colesely station at 09:58
10:40 departure arrives at colesely station at 10:58

once you arrive at colesely station its a five minute journey to the school so you should arrive at just past the hour,

im sure there will be people waiting outside for the opening (i will be one of them since i getting the 09:40 train) so ill meet anyone out side the school for a coffee if the van has arrived by then lol

ive included a lil map below to show the directions from station to the school,

If any one is going to be getting the 09:40 train let me know we could all meet up at new street and travel together!

    Hi Naython,
thanks for that, I'll be travelling from Crewe and was told to get off at Wolverhampton to get a bus! Its a lot easier if I can run straight through to Birmingham and then come back!

Hi Naython, I've just looked on the National rail enquiries and it says the first train isn't until 12:40!! I'll give them a ring later and see what I can find out.

Nicola, that's what i've found too...i posted it on my own thread asking for help to the show. it's not looking great!

Oli suggested a taxi, if a few of us could meet in Birmingham, perhaps we could split one?

Hi James. I've had a chat with National Rail and the best way to do it is to get the first train to Wolverhampton. I'll be travelling from the other direction and will arrive about 9:30 or near there so you should be able to get a train from Birmingham to get you into Wolverhampton at that time. We could all get a taxi which would be much, much cheaper than from Birmingham, but there are buses to Coseley from Wolverhampton anyway which are even cheaper but mean waiting for. Anyway at that time of the morning it doesn't matter if you're waiting at the station or outside the show, you'll still be waiting! So that's what I recommend; go from New Street to Wolverhampton and get a bus (or taxi, depending when you arrive). Travelling back shouldn't be a problem, there are trains and buses from Coseley in the afternoon.

Ok everyone, I am indebted to Nicola and Naython for their reseach on this. I have double checked and it does indeed seem that the first train that stops at coseley is around 1.00pm. Howvere as Nicola points out the best thing to do is to travel to Wolverhampton and the taxi it back. Ive attches a link to a number of taxi firms in wolverhampton.

Black cabs do stand at Wolverhampton station and the journey is around 10 minutes. Ask for " Coseley School, Birmingham New Rd" the fair should be no more than £10 if you use a Black cab and a lot less if you use a local firm.

              Taxis in Wolverhampton

I know this is a pain but its worth it. I agree with Naython if you arrange to meet at Wolves station then it would be cheaper all round. Also the bus station is just across the rd from the staion and buses run along the Birmingham new Rd.

              Bl***y trains.

We are here to help so if we can put you in touch with people then please let me know.

Right the buses from wolverhampton are from The Bus Station Stand M and the nuber is 126. They run every 20min and you need to ask for Coseley Station or the Leisure Centre. (Bank Street)
link below. Phew......I need to get a job. This show is driving me nuts. Traveline - Public Transport Info

thanks for all the help and links, Ray!
Nicola, i'm up for meeting in Wolverhampton, and anyone else that's coming that way that needs a hand. the bus sounds reasonable, though the taxi back might be good, if we've got armloads of animals, play it by ear.
a split taxi may be no more expensive then the bus, if a few of us take advantage of it.

EDIT: just had a look, unfortunately the first train i can get arrives in Wolverhampton at 11:19, so i'll just make my way to the show from there. at least it's earlier, and there's a good chance the queue will have cleared by then.
can cab or bus back to the station after the show with anyone that has trains leaving at a similar time (i'm going to book for around six)

the information that i posted is indeed accurate i made telephone enquirtes to centro which is the local train operator of birmnigham and they ensured me of these times being 100% correct.

i used national rail and network rail and both ofthose stated that no train earlier than 12:40 but they again run fgrom the NATIONAL trains,

please rest assured the LOCAL trains i.e CENTRO will be running form 8:40 am i will make further enquires this evening but am positive the answer will remain the same!

thanks for doing all that checking, Naython

ok i have made extensive enquiries tonight and it sems there is a slight change at the minute

basically... there are long term engineering works going on at the station so the trains at 08:40 09:40 and 10:40 have been replaced with Bus services from the station so travel time has increased

08:40 bus replacement services arrives at coseley at 09:34 am
                              09:40 " " " " " " " " " " " " " 1034 am
                              10:4-"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" """""""""""" 11:34 am

there will be virgin trains available at

                              08:52
                              09:03
                              09:22
                              09:36

but they only run to wolverhampton

this information is courtesty of london midland rail services the company that own that particular route, after much discussion and hard work we agreed that the reason that no other operator tells of the service is due to it only very recently being loading into the timetable (its not even on their standard list which they access to tell the public the timetables)
below is a timetable provided to me by the customer service person i spoke to today showing the Definate times of both bus and train times.

i can only apologies that the info i gave origanally was incorrect i am at a loss to understand how an operator could give me such duff info. but i hope that this information makes up for it all,
my personal opinion now would be if you are travelling via wolverhampton seek travel from there
the best routes and times are as follow
