hiya, my b.albiceps has displayed some strange behaviour the last couple of weeks. she has totally re arranged her tank and pushed the substrate all the way up one end of the tank. i was informaed that this behaviour indicates that she is getting ready to lay an egg sack, i only bought her in feb and she was wild caught so it is possible that she is pregnant. the only thing that concerns me is that where she has pushed her substrate along, the half of the tank where she sits is very shallow and there is only barely quarter inch of substrate. should i top up the substrate to make it deeper or leave it as it is?

Yeh, I would just leave her be.
She will move it back if she wants to

This seems to be quite popular Brachypelma behaviour. My red knee does it now and again, and my mate has a rosea that constantly moves stuff around.Originally posted by matthew spooner View Posthiya, my b.albiceps has displayed some strange behaviour the last couple of weeks. she has totally re arranged her tank and pushed the substrate all the way up one end of the tank. i was informaed that this behaviour indicates that she is getting ready to lay an egg sack, i only bought her in feb and she was wild caught so it is possible that she is pregnant. the only thing that concerns me is that where she has pushed her substrate along, the half of the tank where she sits is very shallow and there is only barely quarter inch of substrate. should i top up the substrate to make it deeper or leave it as it is?
I wouldnt worry greatly, im sure even spiders 'fancy a change' now and again.

Just as a matter of interest Matt, do you have a heat mat under the tank? (if you use one)
She may just be trying to get to a warmer area.
And if i am on the right track......heat mats are best secured to the sides or back of vivs as spiders usually burrow to escape heat.
If i'm off track...ignore me

her heat mat is on the back, but she has pushed her substrate up and stays by her hide on the lower partOriginally posted by Colin D Wilson View PostJust as a matter of interest Matt, do you have a heat mat under the tank? (if you use one)
