I'm having some strange occurence in my new tank where the water I put into the dish is disappearing within half an hour of putting it there.
I have regular coco fibre for almost all of the substrate, with a top layer of moss.
My only thought is that somehow the moss is literally sucking all the moisture it can from the air around it.
The temperature in the tank is about 78 to 80 degrees farenheit. There is no condensation at all on the glass.
The substrate around the tank looks fairly dry, and our B.Smithi walks on it so I know it must be (she hates wet or damp ground).
I also know it isnt her that is drinking it as I've sat and watched her for the last hour or so on and off and she hasnt moved at all from her position.
So what's making the water disappear? My only conclusion is that it must be the moss as I cant find any other explanation, but I dont know how it's doing it.
She ate fairly recently, so I'm guessing she got her last lot of moisture from that. But I dont want this to go on long in case she needs water and there isnt any.
