  • Another male

My largest P. regalis moulted last night. He's now about 3" legspan and looks great, but is definitely a boy.

My first spider turned out male, my second spider turned out male, my first GBB turned out male... In fact of my 6 tarantulas that I know are female, only 2 of them were bought as unsexed the others were all sold as female. It seems like if I get unsexed ones they are almost guaranteed to be boys.

It's kind of annoying. I have this larger P. regalis and 5 much smaller and I was hoping the larger would be female so I could breed them when the little ones catch up in size. But the larger male is going to mature a long way ahead of the little ones so that probably won't happen now.

Oh well I just felt like having a bit of a moan. I'm still proud of my little guy for having a good moult and looking so great. Just need to find someone with a girlfriend for him in a few months

I've never bred Ts, don't have the set-up or knowledge tbh, but I do have a female regalis, recently moulted, just short of 6", shame you're not just down the road.

I guess one way of looking at it is you'll have some active spiders

I wouldn't worry Kate, there are plenty of people with females when he's ready. Try advertising your males in the classifieds here. The best way to guarantee a female wehen buying slings is to get about 10 at a time, but with the more expensive ones its not so easy I know. Good luck !
