  • Grammostola rosea breeding query

    Hi all,

today I received a mature male & female pair of G.rosea which have been put into their new (seperate) housing, but have been kept right next door to each other. How long should I give them to settle in to the new surroundings before I should think about an introduction?

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Alrite Stuart,

From my experience I would say there is no specific period of time.

If you just watch the spiders they will give tell tale signs of wether they feel at home or not. Hiding away and not producing much web, still a bit stressed, eating well webbing nicely, settled in.

I had a breeding pair of L. Parahybana's given to me before to breed. I had a big viv with a partition in the centre, and after 4 or 5 days they were both settled in webbing and eating away and the male had filled his palps and everything!!! So I just removed the partition and away they went!!! LOL Suppose thats the heavenly scenario it dosen't always happen like that, I was lucky I guess!!! LOL

      thanks Michael,

Got back home last night and on checking them they seem to be settling in nicely, she has been busy laying down a feeding mat and is eating well, as for him, sometimes hes staying still, others he seems to be trying to get to her, he obviously knows that shes there now and he has been busy with some webbing going between the flowerpot hide and the side wall of his case, it does get quite thick at one side so perhaps a sperm web, but I couldnt say its been a bit squashed down now, seems to prefer sitting on it rather than going into the hide, which Ive never seen him use
