  • Strange Avic!!!

    Hi,
I've had this Avicularia purpurea for some time now, and to say she's got a short boredom threshhold is an understatement. First she goes on holiday accross the living room ceiling (how she got out I'll never know). So I moved her into her adult tank early, giving her room to roam. Surprisingly she had no problems in getting around and finding food, though I was a little concerned and kept an eye on her at first. Then she must have got really bored as a week ago I found this:

The tank is only 37.5cm high and 30cm accross the top!!!! ( this is taken from the side so 30cm is depth).

this should give you more of an idea of the size of the thing! She's currently making her way accross the back of the tank but has stopped to moult. No doubt she'll start up again later. For a spider with a legspan of 7cm this is something. Here's the little thing below

I wasn't sure if this thread should have been here or in the pics section, so sorry if I got this wrong. At the risk of asking a daft question is this normal webbing for a purpurea?

No Rebecca, the thing thats so remarkable is that she's only a 7cm juvie! I saw her pull down a Class 1 cricket
which got into her tank when I was trying to sort her out somes small ones for her the other week. The cricket's body was nesarly the size of hers! She's an amazing little spider.
