  • BBC 1 8pm Lost Land of the Jaguar

Just saw the back end of this programme tonight and it showed a trailer for next weeks episode. I'm sure I saw a large reddish tarantula (T.blondi?) launching itself off an entomologists hand.
An interesting show for anyone interested in wildlife. Tonight's show also had something about whip spiders but I must have missed that bit. Need to check out BBC's iPlayer when I get the chance.
Despite the crap portrayal of tarantulas on Eastenders, the BBC makes great wildlife shows (Planet Earth, Life in Cold Blood etc etc) and are always well worth a look in.

yeah we just watched it tonight. Laughed my socks off when the whipscorpion scampered over the guys face!

      The jaguar was beautiful.

Very interesting and cant wait for the next episode. Agree BBC do fantastic wildlife documentary's. They should stick keeping the exotic animals in their documentary's!

OK BBC we like you again!

I must admit I loved that programme tonight. It was full of humour and entertainment. The Jaguar was majestic and those little yellow frogs were so cute. The entomologist with the common sense bypass was by far the funniest. The way he hurt his hand trying to catch that cricket and promptly told us how a whip spider tickles the crickets back legs to move it forward onto its jaws. Ever thought of touching the crickets back legs to get it into a sample jar Mr. Sorehand? DOH! Yes I think it was a T. blondi at tjhe end. I can't wait for next week,.

I have an apology to make i didnt post up this sooner.

          the next programmes are:

          >The 3- part series we filmed in Guyana last autumn 'Lost Land of the Jaguar' goes out on >BBC 1
          >Episode 1 Wednesday 30th July at 8.00pm.
          >Epsiode 2 Wednesday 6th August at 8.00pm.
          >Episode 3 Wednesday 13th August at 8.00pm.

          >Harpy Eagle, anaconda, giant otters and the biggest spider in the world- enjoy.

          >Yours aye,
          >George

Hopefully in the next episode there is a piece where George emails yours trully a pic and i reply back identifying the spider, sort of technology in the jungle so to speak.

I cannot wait to see what happens as he has told me very little of what has happened.

But again a really good Natural History Programme cannot wait for the bloopers (for those who know George LOL)

Jump on iPlayer James, its worth watching.
A fascinating program, who would have crawled through that tree? winched themselves down that waterfall? or up those trees? Our desire to observe nature defeats all obstacles and we have the convenience of watching it all unfold in our armchairs. Roll on the next one.

great show loved the blondi handling! wasn't she docile?
bit of a heart leaping into my throat moment when she jumped though, for her own safety!
Lisa, i can't believe he let that woman think they are actually spiders though!
they are a completely different order of arachnid
incidentally, did you notice the U granulatus look-alikes?
