those are Amblipygids...along with Uropygids (vinegaroons, or whip scorpions (as opposed to taillelss)) and Solifugids, they are another kind of arachnid, like scorpions, mites, pseudoscorpions, etc.
arachnids are incredibly varied!
i want a blondi too now, but no way i'd hold it haha
the spider that was on CCTV eating the cicada was Ephebopus murinus (the skeleton tarantula), which you can buy.
sorry i don't know the snake, but it was cute.Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

they are a completely different order of arachnid
incidentally, did you notice the U granulatus look-alikes?
And cant wait to get some more amblipygids. Did you see the ones on the show though... red legs and spines on the peds about twice as long as any i have seen before. They were beautiful.
(and if anyone wants to know why i like them so much... I think it was on Lee Evans XXL tour about getting kids to exercise... tying elastic on kids arms and getting them to eat turkey twizzlers on elastic... The way he does it looks like an amblipygid eating!!!) Anyone not a clue as to what im on about you got to see if its on internet and prepare to laugh your socks off.

What a great programme. was funny though watching my E.murinus looking through the glass watching an E. murinus on television eating. Had to give her a cricket after that! Missed your blue hand net Ray (probably on when I got up to make a cup of tea) but no doubt it'll be on again. Thought Goerge was really on form (though could have done with more on the howler monkeys). I have a feeling that this could be one of those series which is too short!sigpicHate is for people who find thinking a little too complicated!

lol i saw the net, think he used it to catch the blondi?...that's when she performed her only (on camera) act of defence, kicking a cloud of hairs!
poor George got them all over his arms and face...i don't envy the discomfort that must've caused.Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

And Nicola, I'm sure this is a 3 parterJust not enough tarantulas on the box in their right environment.

yeah Andrew, i heard Theraphosa's possess rather nasty urticating hair. i've only experienced it from sexing an apophysis, and it wasn't pleasant...but i'm slightly sensitive, so the outbreak lasts weeks for me.
i really hope that's not the case for George, and that he didn't get any in his eyes!Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

lmao that's hilarious!
also the danger though, that T blondi was fortunate it wasn't far to jump, but even then, that was a bit scary for it.
kind of shows two dangers of handling, really...though i blatantly envy him. that was a very calm blondi.Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars... Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
