Well good luck with this one Austin.

He looked to be struggling for the first part, but i saw a couple of what seemed to be good insertions.

Are you trying them again or leaving it at that?

I've tried them two times before this. Each time it looked as if it was successful. so keep those fingers crossed. I re-did this gals tank, unbelievable. Well atleast i think it is.

Fingers crossed for you mate, hope this is a success.

There's plenty of people out there who would take the slings off your hands for a fair price as well

she burrowed right under the stump as expected.

They'll do quite nicely here mate i think

Very nice set up, is the lamp for viewing or is it used as heating assistance?

I used a low wattage lamp on my sp. gigas to encorage it to burrow...and it worked very well with the spider burrowing down to the damper substrate and making quite a nice tunnel system.

Hmmm, difficult to say with the quality of the video, but IMO, there was no insertion from the male?

              C. crawshayi males are characteristically hesitant when it comes to mating and the actual insertion is very brief (similar to P. regalis, for example). IME, the female usually attacks the male, or at least scares him off, after mating indicating a successful pairing (see the video clips on my site for examples).

Maybe you observed this after the camera was turned off?

Maybe my eyes but there seemed to be a couple of times he hooked up, i'll stand being corrected though

sorry col i have to agree with Guy, i did not see any insertions but that does not mean there was not any. also the female did not react as if she was penetrated.
hope i hope she is mated and good luck with her

Yeah to be honest i've watched it a few more times and i can't even see the bits i thought she reacted the first time i watched it which were about a minute in.

I'll give up and crawl in my corner.

I failed to mention I had to cut it short on the video b/c of space on the camera. About one minute after I stopped recording, she spazzed out and started chasing him. I've mated them three times now and towards the end of each one she does go after him.

                          Update

                          She is looking pretty gravid!

This picture was taken two weeks ago:

                          Taken today:

Here is an alright video of where you can ACTUALLY see the insertions. I ran out of space, but it went on for about 30 min. I couldnt get the cam to zoom in while recording, so keep an eye out!
