  • I.d please?

My other half bought a job lot of spiderlings roughly 4 years ago and recently gave one of them to me, but we are undecided what she is as we have looked at the pictures and description on the net but I think she is one thing and the other half thinks he remembers her being something else, so with out letting you know our opinion, could anybody let us know for sure what she is as I am on the look out for a young male to bring on for her and I would like to do her a ID sheet but not knowing for sure what she is making it somewhat difficult...
    Thanks

        Avicularia sp.

However getting any further than that may prove difficult! Beautiful spider.

My advice is to forget the breeding aspect unless you can get a 100% ID, which in the present is going to prove difficult as Avicularia are mixed up at best with only a few acknowledged species.

Good looking little thing though. and will make a wonderful pet as all Avic's do.
Don't forget to learn what you can, when you can, where you can.

Ho no, I wouldn't dream of breeding from her unless I knew without a doubt what she was.
She is indeed a beauty and very stead too. At the moment she has walled herself up in her web so the only way we can look at her is via her pictures
Well, I will keep going with the research for now... but thanks for looking and giving it a try

              Hey Traci,

Saw your pics the other day and knew they were avics as the other guys told you. But I was browsing through a pet shop (as you do!!LOL) and spotted a spider very similar to yours. They have it as Avicularia Mettalica (Mettalic Pink Toe). Might just be me does anyone see any similarities??

Matt thought he remembered buying her as a Avicularia Mettalica (Mettalic Pink Toe) too. I, at first thought she was a Avicularia Avicularia though she doesn't have the purple metallic abdomen, so maybe not.
He bought 5 slings and was told he could keep them together if provided enough food, but over the month's she munched on the others and decided to live a solitary life (we no longer rear any spiderlings together!!)
But, yes the picture does look a lot like her. I have been sorting out through some old spider paperwork so you never know her details could still be found (though looking slim )
