arboreals are easy to house...just get free empty sweet jars from a sweet shop. they are happy to be rid of them!

Psalmopoeus is the genus to which P(salmopoeus) cambridgei belongs...as well as P irminia, P pulcher and P reduncus.
they are all stunning spiders...and easily housed, as i said. some bark, some substrate, and it's just a matter of being careful when you take off the lid

not that i'm trying to influence you

sweet hars? Yeah but only when they're younger right? How much do Arboreals actually use their floorspace? And if given multiple items to climb, would they use all or juse one or what?

      Thanks James.

And btw, don't worry... I'm telling you man, you can't influence me! I don't want another one!!!! Lol!
Li'l' Ice Cube the Brachypelma Smithi!!! (As of 13/05/08 !!) But, I'm still gonna refer to it as Ice Cube!

like i said, 4 of them in the hobby....there are more in nature, obviously.

don't trust wikipedia anyways, the fact that anyone can go and edit away makes the information suspect at best.

a better place to look is the world spider catalogue: http://research.amnh.org/entomology/...og/INTRO1.html

Matt, if i were to get the offer of a free metallica i wouldn't refuse, i could sell it and get some really nice Grammostola specimens

Back on topic, if you're happy at the moment with the four you have Richard then thats how we'll leave it.
However, i still maintain that you won't be able to stay at four. I've seen so many people that were adamant on not collecting more, yet when space and time permitted they succumbed.

All i can say is enjoy what you have and let's see what the future holds eh mate !!

Hi Richard, have you seen the Brachypelma shroederi? Beautiful things and they've got some at the Spider Shop now. Midnight blue coloured and the females have copper coloured carapaces. (never say "these are my last", its a guarantee they won't be!)

Nicola, you've almost sold me on that... but i'd have to sell them on for Aphonopelma specimens

In response to what you said to Matt, I dunno if I could sell something that someone gave to me for free, since they entrusted it into my possession. Thinking about it though, if I sold all my tarantulas and the tanks and everything, I'd make a nice bit of money...
thinking about what most people have on this forum, they could probably become quite wealthy if they sold their tarantulas at just over £20 each (that's with postage though).

I wouldn't though, not unless I had to.

Anyways lol besides that pointless topic, nah, I don't think so mate. Trust me, four is enough!

Not in my case Nicola! Believe me on this!
And yes, that is quite a nice species, but I think my Red Rump looks quite nice (never thought they did in pictures though...). There is no way I'd get another T., no way!!

                            Well Richard,

All I can say is, if you have 4 and you leave it at 4, you deserve a medal!!! LOL!!

Cos I certainly don't have willpower like that, everyday for me is a constant struggle not to buy another animal. For me there is no better hobby than animal keeping!!

You will know what I mean if you go into a pet shop and see they have a tarantula, and it's being kept incorrectly, looks like it needs a good home. Trust me, the feeling you get from giving that spider the best possible home, is so rewarding because you basically saved its life.

                            Michael..

I will stick to 4, but in such a situation as you said I'd buy the tarantula and sell it on to someone I know would look after it. Definitely wouldn't keep it.

See Michael the difference between you and me is you'd probably take them if they were offered to you, but that is cuz you'd want to keep them. I actually don't want anymore! Honestly!!

                              Thanks Mike,

methinks he doth protest too much

Michael, i'm with you mate...i'm never happier than when surrounded by animals...that's the real source of the "addiction" for me.

the problem with buying poorly kept T's from a shop is that you encourage the shopkeeper to get more, and treat them the same way.
also...hardly anyone can afford shop prices!
there's a shop near me where they don't have a clue...i tried to explain, the guy sounded willing to listen and change the conditions, but i went back a few weeks later and it was the same.
i would buy all those spiders, but i could not afford it....and he'd just get more in.
as an example, he has a P cambridgei for 80 or 90quid, and it is a mature male!
a couple that broke my heart were the H lividum and E murinus huddled on their water bowls, with maybe an inch of bone dry sub...but what can you do in the face of such ignorance?
