was looking into this the other day... now surely if this were to ever happen, the people that stored some of the animals would need a dwa licence... but how would that work with an organistaion dedicated to capturing lost pets/wild animals etc. would each individual need one.. or just the main buiding there stored. i mean... there not cheap if its per person lol. plus wouldnt u need one for each species? or are they just in general, 'cos wot ive read, they ask you for the animal and the space u'll be keeping it in etc....

I am so going to enjoy answering this one. First I am a member of the RSPCA and I both keep and love my tarantulas very much. Second the RSPCA offered to pay all my vets bills concerning my DWA application last year as they would do for anyone struggling on benefits. So please lay off, we are 100% charity and do the best we can with the resources we have, for everyone. Next all taxonomical data on P. fera was lost in the 1930's or 1940's, so no-one knows what a fera actually looks like! Most pics on the internet are keyserlinghi or nigroventer. Finally the most venomous spider in the world is the Sicarius hahnii, and there is some debate over whether Phoneutria sp. or Hadronyche sp. are the second! How about joining the RSPCA and helping us to improve our service, instead of complaining?

There are plenty of good people in the RSPCA Lisa (oh God I sound like a member of a religious cult!) Sorry, it costs £17 a year to join and don't worry about what happens then, they send you all the stuff on your local branch, you can ring them anytime. Thanks

And plenty of tripe ones too from what i can gather, when i have encountered them for whatever reason the attitude of jumped up prefect springs too mind , aren't they supposed too help instead of belittle?Dont get me wrong they do alot of good for the giant rats with barks and meows. But there exotic pet knowledge needs alot of work.

No one is being forced to join Matthew. I'd love to see more RSPCA work with exotics, but as such specialised expertise are often needed, we tend to refer such cases to organisations such as the BTS (or this should be the case, the
BTS committee can confirm if this is the case).

Ok, I think this thread has run its course now. We don't want it to degenerate any further into needless RSPCA bashing.
