  • Urophonius Granulatus - Successful Breeding???

Well i put the two lovebirds together again last night. The female had been fattened up and the male had gone off his food for the want of mating! And compared to last time the male was wagging his tail twice as much. Dragging the female around then occasionally they would stop, she would drag him to her and they'd 'kiss' Awwww! They didn't do that last time.

Anyhow after a couple of hours I was getting tired and thought i would separate them. Would the male let go... would he chuff! So i left them to it overnight. This morning I found them curled up together under the bark. When I went to pick the male up he latched onto the female again. But this time i managed to get him to let go.

After looking on the platform I had left for them I discovered the remains of a tiny spermatophore - WHOOP!
Trying to find it was fun these scorpions are barely an inch long to begin with! So it was kinda difficult to spot!

Hopefully it all went ok as i didn't witness the deed! So fingers crossed for some sprogs!

      Sincerely good luck with this

A few years ago i bred hadogenes paucidens, The female carried for 20 months and gave birth to 32 scorpions, the very top end of the scale! One died through not getting onto mums back and another was born doubled over - stilborn.

The other 30 however managed to make it up until 3rd instar when i sold them. And from talking to the shops i sold them to they made it further still so was proud of 100% success rate... from what i've been told from other breeders this was pretty near unheard of!
And when asked how i did it... I honestly dont know! I dont have a very clinical approach to rearing scorplings, If it seems about right and they're all doing what they're supposed to be doing i pretty much give them water n food and leave them to it

So i figured if i can have great success with them why not others (although i am prepared for failure!). If i can do it, it will be valuable and much needed information to the rest of the scorpion breeding community.

        So fingers crossed!
