    homes for your spiders

howdy james, most of my collection of 8 tarantulas are now housed in the excellent exo terra terrariums,my starburst baboon is kept in a 45x45x30 and my pokie regalis will soon be moving into one of those too,my 3 brachys, taco the smithi and my twin bohemis{sisters from the same egg sac}are kept in 30x30x30 exo terras, only my female goliath is kept in a 2ft fish tank because she needed a deep substate,i personaly think the exo terras are brill, they look great and the 30x30 ones are ideal for most terrestrial tarantulas, dont let the front opening doors put you off and a small 7"x11" heat matt celotaped to the side with styrene behind it is all you need,my orange starburst clyde has been in her 45cm tall exo terra for 2 years and has 2 burrows one in the substrate under the bark and one at the top of the tank,i dont see the point in keeping your collection in plastic lunch boxes so you can never see them.
all those moments will be lost in time.....like tears........in rain

Faye's right also check the non specialist outlets, items sold as 'your first fish tank' these are usually 100% clear. The only problem with plastic is it scratches so easily. We also use glass tanks and much prefer them, they are more expensive but last for years, and may well work out cheaper in the long run. Also we think that some keepers of T's tend to over house them, which we think makes the T feel insecure and makes it difficult to catch prey, plus they tend to look a bit lost, but maybe that's another topic?
