Age Limit

Is there an age limit on keeping Tarantula's?

As my sons 8 year old friend has said his mum is going to buy him one for Xmas,
If he does get one I feel sorry for the T he does get as he is very cruel to other pets he has had...

Showing em a tub of crickets usually does the trick (as if the T wouldnt)
Crickets also give off a bad smell after awhile...esp the dead ones at the bottom of the container!
I use to work at a petshop and people who just wanted a pet were advised and shown the food and feeding methods...majority of beginners were put off by em so we knew if they were suitable to own the pet or not.
