  • behaviour question

Hi everyone, I just changed my T's substrate today to a compost/vermiculite mix and he/she seems pretty happy with it so far. (G.rosea)
I just noticed something I haven't seen before - the 2 forelegs on the right hand side are being rubbed against each other and on the underside and other legs within reach and then alternately placed underneath the mouth parts

At first I thought it was just self-grooming but I was wondering is he/she trying to collect and drink the water thats been accumulated on the hairs during the jaunts around the tank getting used to the new layout? (Paddled in the water dish a couple of times)

I need to make sure I keep spare batteries for my camera - its really cool to watch - I didn't realise their legs were so flexible

    Grooming

Yes, sounds like she is grooming. They 'spit' on their feet and rubb it over their body! Presumably it keeps the setae in good condition - removing dirt etc. Hum - maybe that's the reason why some T's have serrated claws (hair comb)
