  • b smithi, should i move him?

    Hi all,
Today i bought a b. smithi about 5 cm, from my local pet shop, it came in one of those small insect tanks dimensions roughly 20 cm x 12 x 12. I have a bigger tank available for him but was wondering if you would suggest i keep him in the small one for now. It has a water bowl and he has made a little hide under some bark, seems happy enough, also any care advice would be much appreciated as my previous tarantula was a lot larger when bought, thanks

That tank will be fine for now, and it is best left in it if settled and feeding well. I'd wait until it molts to move up to a larger tank.

    Cheers

Sounds to me Lee like he should be ok for another molt, then just remember whatever tub or tank you move him to should have more floor space than height as B.smithi get heavy bodied and a fall could do serious damage.
