  • H.vonwirthi with eggsac, help!!!!

Spent all last night searching the web for a male Haplopelma vonwirthi to mate with my female, then today, when I was misting all the tanks, I saw my female holding what appears to be an eggsac!!!!

If this is a real eggsac, and she's not just going mad...
    What should I do?
Do I take it off her after so many weeks? Or leave the spiddies to hatch out of their own accord with mum? Should I raise the temps?
Should I continue feeding her as usual?

Absolutely any advice, tips or info welcome!

    Samantha

      Thanks!
I'm pretty excited, just hope I haven't disturbed her too much by running round the house telling everybody!!!

            Hi Lisa
Am I right in thinking your OH is Matthew Baines? I remember seeing his thread with pics of a vonwirthi pair a while back!

I don't know if it's any use to you Lisa, I noted some of the temps down that perhaps encouraged her to make her sac.
For about 4 weeks the temps in her tank were about 25C during the day and 23C at night, then the week she made the sac, the temps were about 28 during the day and 26 at night. It was also a lot more humid in there.
I know a few degrees don't make that much difference, but it does feel warmer in my room than it did before.
Maybe the change in temps triggered the sac making? lol

lol this is our Matthews project, but he has pretty much done the same thing temp and humidity wise.

                          Oh never!!!!!

Oh really sorry to hear that hun. Just out of curiosity was she, in a room on view or do you have an arachnid room.

We keep ours in the bedroom out of the way of the kids I'm wondering whether it would be a good idea to make a cardboard screen around the enclosure so our movements dont disturb her.

These things happen I guess...can't help wondering if I did something wrong, as I couldn't find any breeding reports so I had no clue of what temps or humidity were needed.
I keep all my spiders in my bedroom, Lisa. Wish I had a spider room, but the only room I could use is currently being used as a cats bedroom!
I put some black card around the corner of her tank where her burrow was and made sure not to move it around or open the tank regularly. Maybe my evil schmidti who lives in the next tank along scared her? lol
