what an amazing process it is

Nice pics, but why were you moving your T around during pre and post molt? I am sure your T was fine with it all, but most people would probably scoff at you putting your T outside during the molt for pics and then of coarse having to move it back to it's enclosure, especially if you were to have posted that on Arachnoboards in the states. LOL, I had a Haplopelma that molted and picked it up for a moment following it's molt. I must say they feel rather neat.

I doubt that wild Ts go molting in the open like that, but stranger things have happened.

The outside lighting provides for some excellent pictures. Watching a moult is a tremendous occasion for any tarantula keeper.
Now I don't want to flame your post, but () I really think your tarantula should be in its own environment for its moult. Its very soft, and open to predation. Gulls are real opportunist and will take food right from your hand, whether you offer it or not. A tarantula laying on the ground in the open would be fair game for such a bird.
Just be prepared for the some of comments Jonathon.

Definitely Colin. I don't think Jonathan posted these pics to cause outrage, more so to share his joy at witnessing his first moult. Despite the setting, the pictures are very good and show up a lot of detail.

I posted on another forum a picture of my little 6 month old daughter holding a toy gun. I thought it was very cute and humorous. As did my wife and family. But I got some really serious stick. Lets put it this way, the particular allows swearing and I got called some choice words. So speaking from experience, I'm just preparing Jonathan. There is nothing worse than posting a post/picture with the best of intentions, only for it to go belly up.

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum, and I can only agree with your comment, but I must say the avatar you are using does go against the BTS rules regarding handling, hope you find lots to interest you on the site.

What about my avatar? What is/where are the rules on handling?

Sorry about the avitar, wasn't thinking, -I've now removed it. Just to let you know the tarantula I was holding was particularly docile and I was under the supervision of experienced tarantula keepers.

it happens, Steve...lots handle, but the BTS chooses (very wisely!!) to not advocate handling...and if pics on here of someone handling led to a child getting bitten, or similar, then the BTS could get into trouble, as there is an office with a phonenumber that can get rung with complaints, not to mention the spider getting injured...
