  • Haplopelma schmidti Breeding Advice

I've got a suspected female Haplopelma schmidti, and some time next year I'd like to breed her.
As there's a couple of colour forms I was wondering if I need a male of the same form for her (or is a GSOH more important than looks to her? )

I'm not sure how many colour forms there are..?

Is she just a normal colour form?

    Thanks,
    Samantha

    Hi
As far as I know there is only that colour varient that being the gold colour varient like what yours seems to be (someone else could probably tell you a more definite answer though). All the so called dark colour forms that have been looked at have turned out to be Haplopelma hainanum or Haplopelma hewenum (sorry I forget which?).
Also, interestingly according to Herr von Wirth who described Haplopelma schmidti he is yet even to see a dark colour varient of this species and is unsure as to where it came about?

This is was asked of him about two years ago though so maybe the situation has changed I dont know?

    Cheers
    Chris
