hi there everyone hope you all had a great christmas. just thought i,d let you all know my young chilli rose had another molt this morning and she,s doing really well. i was just wondering though he or she only molted six weeks ago and im just wondering if this is a clue as to the sex of the youngster as my wife pointed out that males seem to grow faster than females and so because the last two molts are so close togeher we,ve presumed it could be a male. the sling,s about 1 and a half inches now. i think it,s probably far to young to try and determin it,s sex but just trying to find out if we could be right on what were thinking..

as a rule, slings moult alot more frequently regardless of sex, the time span for moulting increases with the age of the T. as far as sexing goes, you can tell the sex using a microscope on the exuvium from the 4th moult onwardsTHE SOUTH EAST ARACHNID SHOW, SUNDAY 29TH JANUARY, ASHFORD INTERNATIONAL HOTEL, JUNCTION 10 M20

hi craig i guess i just needed a second opinion on this matter as i thought this second molt came a bit quick. like i said to matthew i,ve always refered to my sling as her or she so i,ll stick with that for now and just hope i dont give it a complex when it,s older if it turns out to be a male ha ha. whats the new reptile shop like in your town do they deal with tarantula,s or do they just deal with reptiles. that would be so handy for you if they sell t,s and live food.

I've actually forgotten all about the shop, lol. Cheers for reminding me. It wasn't open last time I checked so I'm not sure. There are plenty tanks with reptiles and tortoises that you can see through the window but no spiders that I could see but it didn't look fully stocked so u never know. At the very least it'll be somewhere more local for getting live food as you say.
