hi everyone im a little concerned about my young smithi as she seems to be spending a lot of time on her water. she has about a 2 inch leg span and molted about 5 weeks ago. im using water gell at the moment as she,s probably a bit to small to use liquid. this only started a few days ago before this she spent most of her time in her hide and now she spends quite a bit of time on the gell. also her abdoman is a bit on the large side. are these signs of a molt on the way as she also has a dark patch developing on her back end. she,s eating well i give her a medium size cricket every other day .

You'll know when she's gonna moult as she'll stop eating all together. If she's still eating just now then you might be waiting a while for the moult. If she's 2 inches legspan then she's probably ready for a small water bowl. You could always use something small like a well washed and rinsed milk bottle lid etc. I've never used the water gel before so I can't really advice about that. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give part of the tank a light misting too.

cheers craig maybe it wouldn,t be a bad idea to try her with normal water see how she gets on with it. as for misting the tank i do this lightly every other day to keep the humidity at the right level. thanks for your help craig.
