  • reply about ebay not knowing th risks

Well, it seems that it's nothing more than a difference in opinion. I highlighted the potential of somebody not knowing the risks and buying a T to feed to thier snake because he thought it would be cool and ending up wth a dead snake in post #12. This scenario is just as hypothetical as the tarantula eating snake though.
This comes par an par with research your snake/reptile before you buy it. If you had done this then you wouldn't probably be buying a spider as live snake/reptile food anyway even though you could use it as such.

If someone had to feed T's to their snake or anything else and had done the research/knew the risks/minimised the risks then I'm sure they wouldn't be looking on ebay for tarantulas.Try find one on ebay just now and you more than likely will struggle. If this is what your animal ate you would explore other avenues like dealers/breeders/pet shops/classifieds where you knew you could find what you were after easily
If they wanted to feed tarantulas to snakes or reptiles and thought they maybe could get a good deal then there is no harm. Funny thing is I would be more inclinded to look on ebay for a good tarantula deal than to go to a pet shop.

    Cheers
    Chris

Yeah, unfortunately a lot of people don't do the research before buying their pets though and these people would be the ones in the potential scenario I brought up. However, if T's were an established food source then it would be unfair for the people that needed them to be penalised because of this when trying to get a good deal. Until they're seen as food aswell as pets you won't get any good deals though.
