  • How important is heating?

    Hi all,

I was just wondering how important heating each spider enclosure actually is,

I keep a number of different spider species, from the chile rose to the cobalt blue.

The room tempreture is a usually between the 74 to 80 F mark (due to all the snake tank heating in the room).

I've been reading a number of books, one half tells you to heat the spiders and the other half tells you it's alright as long as the room tempreture remains fairly warm.

    What do you suggest?

Most Grammastola and North American Aphonopelma sp are quite happy at room temp in Britian.

Aphonopelmas become active and dig burrows etc if they get a night time drop.

if you look at the climatic data for Grammastoals they have a definite cool period.

these are clues as to how we can breed these sp in captivity
