Just bought one off a mate whos cutting down his collection of allsorts.

All he knows is he bought it as a smokey dwarf tarantula doesnt know scientific name. Its got attitude excellent threat pose and is quite fast.

I thought it would be a good step up to T's such as baboons etc so i thought why not lol.

Has any of you guys / gals got any dwarf T's ? i cant get a decent enough picture for true ID to post .

If by any chance anyone has any could you email me any pics you may have so i can compare them with my new addition please my email addy is swaysedge@hotmail.co.uk.

    Any help much appreciated

    Cheers

Smokey Dwarf Tarantula's were sold in the trade quite a lot a while back. They are in fact E. Pachypus (Stout Legged Baboon is the more common name) and are a baboon species from Arfica. Typical African in that they are quick. The will run rather than adopt a defence posture but WILL do so if they have too. I dont suggest you try to handle this species at all. They like conditions on the dry side in their enclosure and will use a burrow if you start one for them. One they go into that burrow you wont see a lot of her after that. They are also a small tarantula with females topping at about 4 inches max. Nice T though, good luck with her.

Please do Lynn, would love to see a pic of her. Gotta luv the thick back legs on these T's too. My girl just molted about 2 weeks ago but I just got a glimpse of her since then. Her molt is down her burrow and I aint going in after it either

        Cheers

Lovely Jubbley !! She's a beauty, good luck with her Lynn. Definately a she too as males dont look at all the same. Gotta love the greenish carapace on them as the body then fades to grey.
