hi i brought a A.geniculata yestreday and i am strugling with temps. i have put a 22watt mat on one side with polystrene tile.and still the temps are only 72 f the tank that came with the t is 24 inches long 18 high and 12 wide. is this to big, the t is about 4-5 inches long. the heating in the house is not on all the time. thanks inadvance gary

Hi Gary and welcome to the forum. That's a huge tank, it's pretty much too big for most T's especially the height, as the T has a danger of falling and injuring themselves from such a height. You really need to be looking at a tank 12-14"L x 8-10"W x anything from 8" -10" max H, and use extra substrate to reduce the height, and as long as the heatmat is on the outside of the tank, I shouldn't think the temps a problem. We've got a couple of A. Geniculata females, and find them pretty much bullet proof, and they eat for England.
