  • Lampropelma violoceopes breeding.

    Hi guys,

This is my first post, great forum here.

I have been putting a matured male and female Sg blue tarantula in a large plastic enclosure for 1 month. The female molted last 2 weeks.

The male is active and constantly moving around so is the female.

Today they met each the female was slow moving towards the male but the weird thing is the male done something like an attack to the female and skitted off.

I wonder if i did right in this breeding program of mine.

Hope you guys have any experience or advice can be given.

    Thanks loads

hi mate, welcome to the forum! i'm afraid i can't add to this much except to say good luck, they are an amazing species!
my best guess based on what you said is maybe he was startled by the female?
there are some on here that have had good experience with this species in particular, i'm sure they'll help when they can, just hang on

As the female has recently moulted she'll need to renew her energies before breeding.

From what I've read I'd suggest removing the male until 6 weeks after the female has moulted. Within that period I'd also suggest feeding more than usual and possibly offer a pinkie.
