  • This could only happen to us!!!

OK, so we got SKY recently. I meant to post this sooner but I forgot!

Anyway this bloke comes in for the installation and notices we have a lot of tanks. He asked what was in them so I told him... turns out he has a rather bad fear of spiders. Just my luck!
Most of our tanks are at one end of the room but we have a display cabinet with small tarantula's on and the dead preserved specimens. He asked me to thread the telephone cable behind the cabinet and lent forward to give me a hand.... at which point his nose was about 3" away from our preserved Avic.

And I swear on my life I have never heard a grown man scream so loud and high pitch in my life!!!!! not to mention jump back half way across the room.

Then he tries to do the initial setup of the SKY box and he could barely hold onto the remote he was shaking sooo much. When he got the installation going he literally threw the remote onto the desk , tried to politely say good bye but ended up saying 'if you need any more help ring the office I need to get out of here' and literally gathered his stuff and legged it out of the front door.

At which point I collapsed on the sofa in absolute stitches! I know I shouldn't but that was the most girly scream I have ever heard come out of a blokes mouth!

lol, poor guy!! I had the opposite happen the other day. We had a guy come round to give us a quote for new windows and before we went into the spare room I warned him about the T's. He got really excited and we spent half an hour showing him them all.

It's a shame he couldn't hold it together enough and stay around for a while for you to "educate him" a little Lisa.
Unfortunately that seems as though it's going to be the age old story he will tell where he......

"went round to this mad womans house and was surrounded by man eating spiders"

Matt....probably best you weren't in mate

If it had been me I'd probably still be laughing now. A few months ago a surveyor came to my flat, walked straight into the living room and nearly fainted! I have all my tanks on shelves down one side of the room, and two large exo-terras in the corner. I think it was the fact that he was about 6'5" tall and built like an ox, and scared of my tiny little spids!!!!! He did the survey (from a safe distance) but when I mentioned that the walk in cupboard next to the louge was my spid kindergarten and hospital, and that there was a huge apophysis in there guarding the little ones, that kind of did it. He left as quickly as possible!

i think the funniest thing i have seen is the postman walking down the garden path whistleing away quite happily, then the look on his face when you ask him to stop tossing your parcel about as it contains a live tarantula. he was gone so quick that he forgot to ask for a signature. another postman came back an hour or so later asnd got me to sign the paper. he said the other postman was back at the post office scrubbing the back of his van with disinfectant. apparently they have quite a lugh with him now, hiding rubber tarantulas all over the place and filling his glove box with them lol

We had that with a gas bloke, made every excuse under the sun not to do our installation when I said he would have to go carefully in spid room, at the time I had a couple of sacs in there.

We had a film crew round once. When the presenter walked in my spider room she freaked and couldnt film. Some people!

Luckily we don't have that problem anymore as we cover our visitors with bath towels, ask Colin & Phil lol.

Wasn't either one of us that said it. We merely pointed it out
