  • Spider room heating cycle?

Does anyone control their spider/bug room with a simple heater i.e a oil filled or space heater etc...

    Question been:

Do any of you keep your heater on a timer and what times have you set it to go on and off?

Any other information on this subject will help.

For the main spider room (where my Dad keeps his) we have a plug in radiator that is on a thermostat I believe, so it flicks on and off when the temperature is reached.

I think we have it set for around 70F or so, because we find the inside of the tanks are always a little warmer than the ambient room temperature.

Most decent ones have a thermostat built in, you can also connect to a timer plug so it turns off at night etc.

        Delongi do a good one.

        Cheers

The Delongi Heater is exactly the one I use. It has a built in stat and can be set to turn on and off when they reach temp. I heat the entire room this way.

            heating

Hi, I have mine in a vivarium fitted out with shelves and a ceramic heater connected to a habistat pulse proportionate thermostat, the glass doors have been replaced with smoked glass to keep the light down and spiders happy. The same method can be used with a cupboard/wardrobe, ceramic heat elements don't emit light just heat.
By using a heat emitter connected to a thermostat the temperature probe is placed near the bottom of the vivarium & there is a definite temperature gradient between the top and bottom shelves allowing me to position different species at the level they are most suited to

I am just in the process of setting up my spider room, and I am going to use a oil heater to heat the room, (looks like an old fashioned radiator on wheels)
they have a thermostat on them, just might take a bit of fiddling to get the temp exact.
if you get a decent one, they heat a room with no problems at all, this should cut down on the amount of heat mats I will have to use!!

              That the plan anyway

I thought I'd show you all my animal room, It needs some shelfs then will be better but I am happy with it at the moment.

They all look very nicely set up Ian. We use a big 5 tier wire rack, but have still found the need to use heat mats on the 2 lower shelves in the colder weather.
