  • Place to Post your Pictures

    HI All

You may have spotted my earlier post about Chaco Golden knee. Well i think we will buy one in the next month or so now. I really wanted to see some pictures of your spiders and there home. Please post your pics here of your spider and also a picture of there Tank and home. Would be really interested in seeing what everyone has done and what spiders you have.

Oh and do you think this tank would be ok for a juvenile/sub adult. Its a lot smaller when its in front of you. Its 12x12x12inches and comes as a kit.

    Thanks All

Hi Paul, there already is a place for us to post our pics here...

Those tanks are good for adults especially arboreals. The main problem with those tanks for terrestrials is the height so you'll find you have to raise the substrate considerably which allows them to burrow if they choose to do so. It'll mean you have to sacrifice the front opening doors though. For arboreals they're great though. But for arboreals that need higher humidity the mesh ventilation means you'll need to mist the tank a lot more frequently to prevent it drying out. I would lose the light canopy though as T's don't like light.

      Hey

Hey Paul, made a great choice on T. I have a juv myself and its a little cracker. I have the exo-terra tank you have mentioned and it would be to big for a juv in my opinion. I have my chili-rosea in it at the moment. I agree with the above post that unless the sub-strate is real deep means the spiders could fall and hurt its self if it climbed. My chili doesn't climb at all but when my OBT gets bigger I think ill swap tanks and give it the exo as their terres/ abroeal. Ill post pics of my set up tomorrow buddy.

        my Chaco tank

Here's a pic of my set up-I have the chaco in a little glass tank. Its placed in a plastic tub on top of my exo-terra. In the plastic tub I have a thermometer and a mini heat that is meant to be for crickets etc. Seems to be working fine. The chaco didn't eat for a week or so then moulted during the night so is little bigger than in pic but is eating big time now. Handsome tarantula.
In the exo-terra I have a chilli-rosea and a OBT sling thats kept in the corner in a plastic container.

Hi Jamie, I'm fascinated by the little glass tank, is it 'Aqua one'? where do you get those from?

Hey Linda, yeh its called Aqua-one, i got it from the little pet shop down the road. Im guessing its for a tiny little fish lol-not sure. The lid is glass and just sits on top- so ive use 2 batteries and duck tape to make a little handle. Only cost £4.50.
I liked it as it was clear glass and meant i could see what he's doing.

Thanks for that Jamie, you've already answered my second question, 'what's that on the lid' lol. Does the lid allow adequate ventilation?

yeh, there's a good gap round the lid of about 4 mm all the way round. Lid is was not made to be a snug fit which is good.
I tried to find a on-line supplier for you but couldn't see one anywhere.
Any more q's just let me know or if you would like more pics thats no problem too.

                          These are my T enclosures.

The two on the left are set up and ready awaiting arrival of 2 juvenile T's sold to me by a person I've become friends with on the forum:

The top one is for a Grammostola aureostriata.
The bottom one is for a Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens.

Also the one on the right is my Grammostola rosea 'red'
