  • BTS Exhibition approaches!!!!!!!

Well the BTS Exhibition is a stones throw away again and this year we are looking forward to another great event.

As usual we have our normal array of exhibitors from far and near. Andrew Smith will be giving his annual lecture on his travels in Mexico looking for Brachypelma (Part 2). Not to be missed I can tell you.

The competition will be held as always and I hope you will all give it the support that you have in recent years. More artwork please.

The categories can be found on the Events page. I would put a link but thats far beyond my capabilities so I will leave that one to Mark P.

We have very few tables left. So if anyone wishes to trade at the show please drop me an e-mail and I can forward you the details. If you have bred anything or simply wish to have a clear out then why not take this chance to meet and make new friends.

The hobbyist is what we are all about and we welcome members.

We also need volunteers to help us set up on the Saturday ( I repeat SATURDAY) This means arriving at 9.30am on the Saturday and helping us put tables out. You will be more than welcome to join us at the pub on Saturday night for a pre-show drink. Again drop me a PM or an e-mail.

    See you all there

    Hi Ray,
Will there by any chance be a DVD of Brachypelma (part2) for sale there?

Sadly my wife and I cannot make it this year (we had to miss the Kettering expo as well) but we REALLY want to get to some of these shows sooner than later. I know The Spider Shop keeps a pretty good calendar of events and of course BTS site and newsletter lists its events, but is there anywhere else I should be on the lookout for arachnological themed educational recreation???
So how do you know your tarantula is British?

It won't be long now folks, will be on us before we realise, and I can't wait.

I am busily sorting out my 'show bench gang'.

We still gunning for 'best african'.

bah! what do you know about Africans?
I'd bring that lugardi I mentioned last night if it weren't for your pictures of carrot. Best you make room on your shelf Mary.

Thomas, this really is the best tarantula show in the UK, absolutely full of them with a number of inverts to tempt our pockets, plenty of furnishing and enclosures, competitions and lectures, the chance to meet the team and best of all the opportunity to meet some online friends. If you can get there you'll be rewarded as many of the other shows are either reptile or bug based.
There's often a reptile show at Ware plus shows at Brentwood and Shenfield this year to replace Barking and Basildon reptile shows.

                  Mary doesn't keep Africans!

you could win best in show with that flagstaff, Mary, i'm sure of it!
hope mine looks like that when it eventually moults!

i *might* turn up...if i can get out of bed that day...
if i do make it...i'll be on the hunt for Aphonopelma chalcodes for my humble breeding project, as well as random scorpions and centipedes that catch my eye.
who wants to take bets i don't stick to that humble list and get flipping loads of random bits again! lol

I don't keep africans Peter as James said, lol. I know nothing about them at all, ahem.

James, Carrot and Fiona are definitely show bench fodder, plus some other odds and sods we have bred ourselves.

I am definitely going to have to spend a couple of hours just sorting bench fodder out I think,
                      LOOOOADS of africans lol.

Do the spids you enter in show have to be adult or is it a case of as long as they have their adult colouration that counts ?

Any spider can be entered. Sling or adult but as slings its diffcult to ascertain health, colouration etc.
