  • would a trantulas burrow collapse?

Has anyone ever known of a burrow collapsing? i thought my spider was going to moult because it was digging and preparing its burrow for hours, then it went in last week and i did'nt see it for days then it started coming out at about 10'o'clock,maybe it looked a little bigger i dont know then about 2 day's ago i came down in the morning and there is no entrance to the burrow now.its been there 2 or 3 days, will it be able to breath? would it be able to dig itself out? its only small at about 4 or 5cm and my first B.Smithi. its also been very shy since i got it 3 weeks today. any advice anyone?

Burrows can certainly collapse, but the spider will just dig itself out

Your spider may have sealed itself in to prepare for a moult, or maybe it just doesn't want to be disturbed

I'm glad I can shed some light on this subject.

My Grammostola sp "Concepicon" made a deep burrow about 6 inches into the substrate which reached the bottom of her enclosure I believe she would have kept going if she could.

Anyways only a couple of days ago it collapsed, with her inside? I don't know. It didn't seem to phase her tho. She started digging again the next day.

          Hi

Whenever my b.vagan was only 2-3cm it used to dig into the soil but never made a burrow just kept digging while the soil used to close over behind. Sometimes I would search for her cause I was afraid she was dead, nxt minute you would c ting legs popping out of the soil. So I am sure they can breath. I have a hapopelma minax and her burrow would collapse on her alot but it is only the entrance that collapes, maybe cause she doesn't put enough web to hold it. Hope this helps
