  • Is this normal......

My scorpions live in a 4 ft tank and I always leave a few crickets in there, anyway a few weeks ago I decided to add some cricket food and gel .
My largest scorpion [russell] has decided he has become a veggie and is only eating the cricket food and today i found him on the gel!!!!!
He seems to be doing fine, but is it normal...will it harm him??????

Personally I wouldn't use the gel or leave in cricket food.

I seem to recall something about the gel not being so good, if I recall correctly it harbours a lot of bacteria which will inevitably be bad for your scorp. Same applies to these sponges you see on the market. Use a water dish with stones in to prevent the scorpion from falling in / too much water in the lung spherical's. The stones can be easily washed in boiling water from kettle.

Any uneaten crickets should be removed within a day or two. this prevents mites preying on them and having an infestation which will irritate the scorpion! Small amount of cleaner mites is ok... lots a pain in the bottom!

      What scorpions are you keeping?
