  • Urgent help/advice needed

Hello everyone. I'm really in a panic at the moment.

    Here's the story.

About three weeks ago my Brachypelma boemei shed it's skin - nothing abnormal there. I have tried to feed it on multiple occasions but it refuses. All so, looking at its new figue, it looks like a male; having long legs, and slightly bulbus pedipalps.

After work today I peeped into its tank to see it on its back again; as if it is going to shed its shin again. The only difference is that is laying partially under a web.

I have never seen this before. What is happening to it? Is it shedding its skin again?

Please help as I am very concerned for him/her....

    Thank you all, Matt

Nothing to worry about there mate. If it is a male it'll be making a sperm web which is what you can see happening and it'll be getting itself ready to mate. It's an awesome sight. You can watch in peace knowing nothing is wrong now

Sounds like a mature male making a sperm web to me, they lay under a web and load their palps after depositing sperm on the underside of this web.

some males will not eat when matured, others only eat occasionally...the rest eat as normal it's up to the spider

I'm so happy to here that. I have had this spider for about 5 years. When I got him he was very young, so I've seem his entire life cycle, almost. The only thing for me to do now is find a partner for him. It would be unfair for me to see his maturity go to waste. Do you know the best way for me to go about this?

        Thank you, Matt

You can put up an ad in the classified section of this site or on other sites too. I'm sure someone will be interested. Good luck
